Course description

The University of the Arts London Level 3 Diploma in Performing and Production Arts is designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to degree level study or employment in the performing arts.

Delivered by Out of the Darkness Theatre Company, Elgin's professional theatre organisation, there will be a priority and emphasis on the discipline of Musical Theatre, with elements of dance, singing and acting.

The Diploma provides an opportunity for you to explore the performing arts, develop and test your creativity within a qualification structure which is stimulating, demanding and provides a supportive transition from general to more specialised study.

Entry requirements

  • Two National 5s, preferably one in English
  • OR

  • NPA in Acting and Performance.
  • You will also be required to attend an audition with members of staff from Out of the Darkness Theatre Company.
  • Applications are encouraged from prospective students without the standard entry requirements as listed above.

Progression

On successful completion of the course you can progress onto further study:

  • HNC Acting and Performance
  • HNC Musical Theatre
  • BA (Hons) Drama and Production
  • Please note that some courses might request a Higher English qualification over and above the Diploma.

    Alternatively, you will have the skills to gain employment in freelance performing and production roles or organisational positions including formal education and community engagement.
