Course description

This is the college element of a Modern Apprenticeship, which is an approved route to becoming a qualified tradesperson.
As you will be required to employed by a contractor your time will be split between college and work site.

You will learn a wide range of practical skills in joinery and carpentry. Construction theory and health and safety requirements are also covered comprehensively in the course.

Entry requirements

Entry is arranged through The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) or the Vocational Team at UHI Shetland.

Progression

Academic: You can progress on to our Advanced Carpentry and Joinery course.

Employment/Career: This course is ideal if you are interested in training to be a tradesman in the construction sector.

Former students have: Started their own carpentry business.
